One of the few luxury independent-run boutique hotels in town, Heritage Suites Hotel is located in the inner belly of Siem Reap. The isolated, and expectedly, quiet neighbourhood provides the guests a very restful stay indeed. Built only a few years ago, it adopted the French Colonial architecture reminiscent of European-style village inns. Nestled amid the lush tropical greens and flowerbeds, the facade instantly transports you to another world. The stunning lobby also houses the restaurant and well-stocked bar.

Rooms and villas are located behind the main building ensuring privacy and exclusivity. Conceptualised as an upscale boutique style property, it caught the attention of Europe’s Relais & Chateaux group, which specialises in ‘small and intimate’ high-end accommodations. Since the partnership, Heritage Suites Hotel elevated its status as a must-go hotel if you prefer personal interaction with no less than the “innkeeper”.

Proud of having only 26 spacious suites to manage, the size is ideal to properly maintain and to ensure prompt action to requests made by guests. Here, “The innkeeper” philosophy is alive and well as no less than the general manager greets the guests at the reception, attend to their tour requirements, or even to wave them goodbye as they leave.

The hands-on approach is an endearing trait that definitely assures a pleasant memory for any passing traveller. Like all the Relais & Chateaux member hotels, Heritage Suites conform to its guiding philosophy: “There is no one Relais & Chateaux in another Relais & Chateaux”. They may all adhere to it but they keep the individual personalities of the member properties attuned to its local flavours, sights and sounds. Trained under this mindset, the staff is equally attentive, pleasantly efficient and eagerly helpful. Communication is not that difficult and the trademark Khmer hospitality and ready smile all add up to a memorable vacation.

Despite its oftentimes fully booked status, the hotel never feels suffocating. The airy and spacious areas opening up to the verdant foliage surrounding it is a truly soothing sight.
